This post is about last weekend. I wonder if there’s an option to back-post?
Thursday last week (Jan 12), Chau, Mom and I drove down to San Diego. That’s right, just the 3 women. Well, Chau did all the driving. But I had to be there to make sure she stayed awake. So, my role was no less important. We left at 3:45, and got there at 10:00. We stopped by Tuan’s house to visit Allison. Feel really bad for Mina. I can’t imagine myself if Tina or Eric got really sick.
We spent the first night at Dung’s. Chau and I slept in the family room and talked till 2:00AM. Good thing the kids were well-behaved this time, and did not wake us up early.
Friday, we drove around, had lunch with Tu, then had the Dulce de Leche frappe at Coffee Bean. Picked up Darren, then we went shopping to kill time. Dinner was at Pho Hoa Express. I thought they would have curry, but they ran out. And 3 of us had bad stomach problems afterwards. Definitely not the place to go back to. Had second round of Coffee Bean. I know, everything in moderation… but how can i be blamed? I had to have as much of that drink as possible before heading home! It’s not my fault that there is no Coffee Bean in San Jose. Spent the night at Tu’s house. Slept with my sister, Dao. I haven’t shared a bed with her for over 25 years now. But we barely got to talk, because we were so dead tired, and Dao was recovering from a cold and the bad food.
Saturday – visited Eric’s place. He has a big room, with attached bathroom. I think it’s quite nice for a starter. We went grocery shopping. In the afternoon, I went looking at the townhomes with Carole. I’m not sure it makes sense to buy anything in San Diego now. I have to say, San Diego is becoming too big, too crowded, and too unstructured. Houses pop up everywhere. High-rise buildings in between freeway and freeway exits?
Sunday – Visited chi Dung before we head back to LA. Anh Son made us broiled shrimp and pork. In LA, we had dinner at this Korean lounge. The food isn’t good, because it’s a lounge. But the decor is nice, cozy. I guess it’s for those korean “gentlemen” to gather around and act macho. Between Han and me, we finished 2 bottles of Sho-Ju.
Monday – Dao took me to xe do` Hoang. They leave Santa Ana at ABC Market at 10:00am and arrive San Jose at 4:10pm. Got sick on the bus, because i didn’t eat anything all day. Good thing I had my power bar.
