Cháo Gà

Cháo is my family’s comforting dish when one of us gets sick, feels under the weather, … Kinda like Chicken Soup.
Ingredients

  • 2 slices ginger
  • 1 c rice (1/2 long-grain, 1/2 short-grain or sticky rice)
  • Water
  • Green onions, chopped
  • Whole Chicken, or Pork Bones (with some meat)
  • Ground Pork

  • Directions

    1. Rice- washed, drained.
    2. Simmer rice w/ water, salt, chicken bouillon, ginger slices.
    3. Heat up oil. Add dried hành phi to oil. When golden, add ground pork. Break up the pork.
    4. Add meat to rice porridge. Before serving, mix up some cornstarch with water. Add to porridge. This will keep the rice and broth from being separated.

    Serving Options:

Shrimp: Before serving, add shrimp. Top with green onions, black pepper.
Fish: Use catfish. Sliced thin, marinaded with fish sauce and oil. Add shredded onions and ginger.
Dầu Cháo Quẩy: buy at Dakao.

Hom no ra bookstore to buy the coursereader. Since I didn’t wear my glasses, I saw the price just only 3.75$. When paying to the cashier, I gave hime 5$ note, and he stared at me. “Excuse me, it is 42.5$” – “What?” (as Panic as someone shouted in my ears) – 42.5 please! However, I was still so confident that I asked the guy to double-check the price in the computer. And the answer was the same. He then asked me to double check the price on the shelf.
And….here it was: 37.5! Oh, cheeseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
