Nifty Fifty

Recapping my first day being wiser :)

Woke up at 8:30. Hung gave me a bouquet of yellow roses and white calla lily. He even arranged them nicely in a vase! Then ran back to the kitchen to get the coffee and almost tripped! He had to leave the house early to get me the fresh flowers and went to Starbucks for my favorite coffee. For that, I’d say he’s an OK husband.

Tina got me necklaces, as I requested her to choose me the accessories she would buy for herself. You see, I’m losing my fashion taste. I notice that I got compliments everytime I wear her clothes or her necklace/earrings. All nicely wrapped, I had to carefully unwrap the presents. Only to throw them away afterwards anyway. Isn’t that senseless?

Later in the morning, Hung and I went to the Watercourse Way in Palo Alto for a hot tub and massage. The lobby area is very serene, with a zen monasterial look. The ceiling is made of bamboo. The walls are either made of cement or covered with copper of a deep dark greenish brown color. At every corner we turn, there’s a sitting Buddha or a monk statue. Hung chose Nine Bats, which is a private room with a hot tub, cold plunge, and sauna. My massage was with Keli. It was a very soothing experience. I left it feeling light-headed, light-hearted. We had lunch at this cozy mexican dink around the block. Their margaritas were not that intoxicating though …

Went home, and got the comic books in the mail from BichLan. La Bicyclette Rouge. She calls me “em yeu”!

Time for my usual power nap. Talked Tina into “lie down on the bed with Mom, we’re just resting but we’re not going to sleep”. Tina knows my trick, yet falls for it everytime. We woke up 2 hours later. Too late to go into the city, so we went to our regular spot, Il Porcini. Unfortunately, the food there is sliding down the scale, fast. I kept telling myself that it’s not the food but the atmosphere that kept us going back there. But the food has to be at least passable!

The whole day, Hung was pleasant, didn’t even “nhan” once. For that, I promote him to be a good hubby!

Tina’s friends left me a chocolate cake with walnut topping at the door. That was very sweet of them! And very mean and controlling of Tina to force her friends into getting me something ;)
