French Restaurants

You would think French food is my preference, but it’s not. I have this resistance to anything that is french. So naturally, I don’t look for french restaurants. Even though I do enjoy crepes and some of their wine. And most of my best friends live in France, and I go visit them every other year.

Le Papillon in Fremont
1 star out of 10

We went here only because we had a gift certificate. Why is this restaurant in Fremont, I have asked myself dozen of times. It’s like out in the boondocks. The decor is so old, it’s odd. It’s like something out of a run-down castle with cheap chandeliers. And the lighting is bright as in neon-bright. The room smells musty. The waiters act so snobby. Excusez-moi, monsieur, mais on n’est plus en France!!! Geez…Pity that one sees himself superior to the other based on race.
The wine list was not impressive. Bread comes from Safeway. Butter was salted, which is a no-no! Joe ordered Firestone Merlot. Good thing it didn’t taste like tires! Food was lukewarm. The fish wasn’t fresh. I just couldn’t wait to run out of there.
