Mexican Restaurants

The one thing that draws me to a mexican place is the Margaritas. There’s not too many mexican dishes I’m crazy for.

Il Tipico in Union City

The place is on one of the side streets off Union City Blvd. We used to go here quite often when we go visit Chau Dai. Two years ago, I would give it 9 stars. The Margaritas are not as good anymore. Taste too much like coming from a pre-mix. Other than that, the food is still excellent. Homemade chips. Salsa es muy picante. I usually order the chicken soup and side orders of tacos. Chicken soup is a concocte of vegetable roots, chicken breast, and avocados. Just like we have it in Puerto Vallarta. Huge bowl, it can easily be your whole dinner. And the tacos, especially the Red Pork, are the best ones from this side of the border! Not the braised pork like most places have. But stir-fried pork in a spcy red sauce, with raw chopped onions and grilled green onions.

La Casita in Fremont
1 star out of 10

I don’t understand why this place is always crowded. Been there twice. Food was salty. Service was the worst I’ve seen. Waiters totally ignored us and only came to the table to give the tab and promptly back to take the money. Drink is sweet (not much alcohol) and expensive. I was mad at myself last night for going there, because I don’t like making the same mistake twice. 07/03/2007.
