I realized I have one of those rare illnesses of which the only treatment is to travel. Since the stroke last September, I have recovered probably 90%, but that remaining 10% had been lingering on. So when Chi-Mai emailed to tell me there’s an ASP party in Paris, I instantly thought of my “poor health” and “life is short” and “friendship forever” … all good excuses for another trip.
Non-stop ticket from SFO to CDG in March was 1009.00 USD. Not bad. 12 hours of sitting. I took an anxiety pill and dozed off during half of the flight. I am so lucky to have very good friends from high-school. Rosalie patiently waited for me at CDG for 2 whole hours. She even had a bowl of Pho waiting for me at home.
Kids didn’t arrive until the week after, and they stayed with me for only 4 days. After that, off they go to the city of sex and sins, Amsterdam. I had to convince them to go see the Louvres museum. They were predetermined to go visit museums in Europe, but it’s the museum of Condoms and the museum of Sex that they want to visit! Tina brought back to Paris some brownies, but I forgot to try it out. My loss!
We walked along the Seine, visited Notre Dame, Saint-Michel and Quartier Latin, Tour Eiffel, spent a day at the Louvres. I think they had a good time there. I would like to take them to Italy next.
