Down to the wire …Finally, after packing and unpacking and repeat about 14 times, I think my backpack is almost kinda complete.
Ideally, backpack should weigh 13 lbs. But my carrying weight is 17 lbs
. It is recommended for the carrying weight to be 10% of the person’s weight, but it’s just impossible to shave off anymore weight. I’m bringing 2 long pants, 1 skort, 2 shirts, 1 fleece. That’s 2 changes of clothes. Everyday, I would wash one set and wear the other. The rest is essentials.

2 months ago, I counted the weeks of training before walking the Camino. Today, I have 1 week left. 7 days till I leave and 10 days till I start my Camino. Everything seems so unreal. I think my body is aware of my doubts and fears and is reacting to my emotions. I have frequent cramps in my feet, daily indigestion, headaches, insomnia. But I believe the Camino is calling me and my mental weakness is jerking me around trying to steer me away from my chosen path.
One foot in front of the other. That’s how we walk! Photo is of Mount Diablo Shell Ridge where we trained for the Camino.
