That was the first line I read on a magazine article this morning. Do you know what makes you happy? If someone asks you that question, do you have the answers?
I woke up and decided to push myself to do things that I promised myself I would do last night. Before going to sleep, I went though the Peloton classes to choose one I could do. I woke up at 6 and again, my head was playing the devil on me, telling me how warm the bed is and how good it would be for my body to have an extra 2 hours of sleep. Without further thinking, I kicked the bedding to the end of the bed and jumped out. Well, for the body of a soon-to-be 68 yo mama, it meant slowly pulled myself up and slowly crawled myself out of bed.
But I did yoga for 20 min and meditation for another 20.
So, back to the title of this entry. What makes me happy? Here’s the list:
- Getting up early after a good night sleep. Early is before 7am
- Have a good poop. Haha! It’s not gross, because everyone does it, and it does make my day go smoother, pun intended!
- Do yoga as my body allows it. I can’t do the strenuous asanas or long pauses anymore. I’m happy to be able to just do slow flow
- Meditate
- Waking up and walking out to a clean kitchen.
- Have a cuppa while writing this journal. I’m trying to not read so much Quora and Reddit, my TV is rarely turned on, and the news nowadays are so distressing
- Connect with my siblings
- Connect with my kids
- Read something uplifting
- Garden. Weeding for the moment, since it has been raining in North Cal and the weeds are taking over. My backyard was covered with white rocks, now green weeds
- Make a good healthy dinner and have my favorites join me
- Receive expressions of love from my kids
I can’t say I’m a simple person, but I can be happy with very simple things.
