France 2025 – Montpellier nº3

It’s cloudy and very ominous today in M. The sun didn’t rise, the sky is grey with thick clouds, the birds keep circling above the trees. I don’t know what to do here when it rains. So far on this trip, I’ve had cold weather, warm weather, and now rain.

One thing I keep forgetting is Sunday is not Funday in France. Most shops are closed except for a few coffee places. Grocery stores are open just a few hours in the morning. The Old town is almost deserted. For travelers, it’s best to plan Sunday as travel day.

We trammed to Parc de Peyrou because there is a vide-grenier (garage sale) every Sunday. Because of the weather, there wasn’t a big crowd, but I see people love going to the park, whether for socializing, a promenade or a coffee.

I had a craving for Pho again today. I’m a real Mít Ðǎc (solid vietnamito)! It seems that Pho here is served with thich fat rice noodles, and I don’t care for it. Also, very little meat and green onions and cilantro for a bowl that costs about 14€. The owner, Thanh, was very friendly. She came to France at 6 yo in 1976, and spoke broken vietnamese. We exchanged contacts on WhatsApp and she will tell me how to color my hair grey :)

Eric just arrived Marseilles yesterday. I told him to go to Marseilles instead of A Coruna for the warm weather. And today, it rains there too. Tina is in London and I think it has been raining her whole trip.

🌦️ Rain, rain, go away
🌸 Come again another day

I’m excited to see the kids and spend a week with them, even though I just saw them 3 weeks ago. They are adults but at times I still see them as little kids. Am I hallucinating or what?
